Dental Care in Baton Rouge, LA

Our General Dentistry Services

Routine Cleanings & Checkups

We recommend you come to the dentist for a routine cleaning twice a year. Children should begin coming to the dentist by their first birthday. During a routine cleaning, a dental hygienist will not only thoroughly clean your teeth, but will also examine your mouth, checking for signs of decay, gum disease, oral cancer, or other issues. We will give you guidance on how to improve your oral health through at-home dental hygiene.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is an element that strengthens your teeth and prevents decay. Fluoride can be found in most of our tap water, but sometimes this isn’t enough to provide the best benefits. That’s why we provide fluoride treatments during routine cleanings, especially for children, to help set them up for great oral health.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays are very useful when it comes to dentistry. They allow us to detect abnormalities or problems inside the mouth that can’t be seen with the naked eye. Digital x-rays are the latest x-ray technology, and they submit the patient to the most minimal level of radiation. In addition, they allow us to safely share and store images with ease.

Full Dental Consultations

In a full dental consultation, we will take a look at your mouth and teeth and determine the best course of action. Whether you are experiencing decay and need a filling, root canal or extraction, or whether your teeth aren’t as bright as you would like them to be, we will work with you to devise a plan that meets your needs and goals. We also will keep you informed as to what each treatment entails.

Emergency Care

If you have an emergency or are experiencing severe pain, call our office immediately! We will give you instructions and get you in as soon as possible.

Periodontics refers to treatment for the structures supporting your teeth, especially your gums. Often, poor dental habits can lead to irritation, inflammation or infection of the gum area, including gingivitis, or, in advanced cases, periodontitis. At Michael A. Lala DDS, we can diagnose and treat periodontal issues.

When you need a set of dentures, whether full or partial, we can provide them. We will take accurate, precise measurements of your mouth to ensure your dentures fit comfortably. We will make sure your dentures are as functional as real teeth.

Root Canals

When your tooth has experienced significant decay or trauma that has reached the nerve, you will need a root canal. A root canal involves removing the infected pulp from the tooth, disinfecting and cleaning it out, and then restoring the tooth with a crown to prevent further damage. At Michael A. Lala DDS, we understand this can be a stressful procedure, and our caring team works to make it as comfortable as possible.

If your tooth has decay, inflammation or has experienced trauma beyond repair, an extraction is the best solution. During an extraction, we will remove the tooth and the root. Then, we will discuss options for replacing the tooth, such as a partial denture, bridge or dental implant.

Sealants are an acrylic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of permanent molar teeth in order to prevent decay. Although thorough brushing and flossing can remove food particles and plaque, they can not get into the grooves of the teeth. Sealants fill in these grooves and protect these vulnerable areas from decay.

Sedation Dentistry

At Michael A. Lala DDS, we understand that some patients get very nervous about receiving treatment. We always want you to have a positive experience while you are here! That’s why we offer options for sedation dentistry. We provide nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation and IV conscious sedation to help you relax during your treatment. Our team will work with you to determine which sedation option is best for you.
